Theda Laverne (Molsbee) Stout Holloway

Theda Holloway passed from this life on Tuesday, July 21, 2025, at the age of 95 in Mesquite, TX.

She was born September 19, 1929 to Glen and Opal (McCarty) Molsbee. She graduated from Nocona High School in 1946 and went to college at the University of Texas in Arlington, receiving a BS Degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice in 1980. She worked for the Texas Department of Human Services for many years until her retirement.

She married Harold Lee Stout in 1946. From this union, she had 2 children, Allen Lee Stout, and Susan (Stout) Gayler.

Theda loved her family and loved life. She enjoyed the Molsbee reunion and visiting with all who came. She knew the Molsbee heritage better than anyone, and with that knowledge, and her extensive research, she is the person responsible for the Historical Marker just outside the Molsbee Cemetery. While her sisters were still alive she would meet them at the farm every year for a week of fishing, playing Rook, laughter and love. She enjoyed reading the newspaper and doing crossword puzzles. Her longevity was due, in part, to dancing. Theda and Tots went dancing once or twice a week. After his passing she continued to go to the Senior Center dances. She enjoyed watching, and listening to, Elvis impersonators. She was pushing a lawn mower into her 70's, along with trips to Oklahoma with Bobbie (McCarty) Coffman to meet up with family members for an afternoon of visiting and slots. Theda would not let anyone else drive because it made her nervous! She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, looking forward to every visit she had with them.

Her light, once brightly burning, has now softly dimmed, leaving behind memories and moments that echo through the hearts of those who remain. In honoring the passing of Theda, we reflect not only on her life lived, but on the enduring legacy that will continue to inspire, uplift, and guide others.

Theda's laughter, wisdom, and her unwavering kindness are now part of the fabric of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.

Theda was preceded in death by her son, Allen; her long time companion, Tots Woolsey; her parents; sisters, Cherrie Brightwell and Bettie Cannon; step grandsons, Joshua Holloway and Christopher King; and numerous other family members.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Gayler; grandchildren, Dennis Gayler and wife, Amy, and Shannon Huff and husband, Mitchell; great grandchildren, Maya Gayler, Luke Gayler, Preston Huff and Keiran Huff; sister, Vickie Fishburn; brother, Frankie Molsbee; Stepchildren, Steve Holloway, Mark Holloway, and Judy King; Step grandchildren, Wendy Birdwell, Benjamin Holloway, Steven Daniel Holloway, Christopher King, and Aaron King; Step great grandchildren, Gavin Koentop, Vincent Holloway, Divinia Poulliot, Trinidad Laurenz, John King, and Whitney King; nieces, nephews, cousins; and many other family and friends.

Visitation will start 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Molsbee Chapel, Nocona, TX. Funeral services will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m.Theda will then be laid to rest in Molsbee Cemetery.
