Mary Margaret Merrill Teague
Mary Margaret Merrill was one of a set of triplets born to Van Buren Merrill and Margaret Dansforth Merrill on March 30, 1930. The triplets, Mary, Martha, and Joseph, had five older brothers Van, Samuel, Daniel, Paul, and David. With 8 children and a blind father, the family survived on Van’s tiny government stipend earned from serving in the army during the Spanish American War and Margaret earnings cleaning houses. These modest beginnings had a profound effect on the rest of her life. She experienced the trials associate growing up on the wrong side of the tracks during the depth of the Depression. Her life was also affected when her five older bothers joined the military during WW II.
She married Dan Osborne Teague in July 1951. Dan was drafted during the Korean War. After completing his military service Dan and Mary started a small business that prospered for 50 years. This business provided financial security that allowed her to indulge her boundless generosity. She endeavored to meet the needs of others whether it was family, friends, or acquaintances. Whenever she saw someone in need, she found great joy in quietly helping them.
She is survived by her two sons, Curtis and Merrill Teague, her daughter, Lola Sicking, her daughter-in-law, Loretta Simonet, her son-in-law, Dean Sicking, as well as her six grandchildren, Jessica and Dakotah Sicking, Autumn Sicking Klein and Nicole, Dan, and Travis Teague. She is preceded in death by her husband and seven siblings. She passed away at the age of 86 on January 12, 2017.
