John "Jack" Whitaker

John Allen "Jack" Whitaker was born on March 11, 1944 in Anderson, Missouri to George and Nellie (Stout) Whitaker and passed away on February 13, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings George Whitaker, Jr., June Ehr, Dan Whitaker, Sue Hammer, and Laura Higgenbotham.

Jack is survived by his children Trudy Stroup and husband Keith from Joplin, Missouri; Melanie Brown from Baxter Springs, Kansas; Cy Whitaker and wife Alicia from Seymour, Texas, and Darlene Whitaker; two grandsons Daniel Vanhorn and Mason Brown; siblings Ella Dyer, Jim Whitaker, Bill Whitaker, and Lee McNutt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

"Jack" was a truck driver by trade for 40 years, but his family thought he should have been a comedian because he was always telling jokes. He was the family clown. He was a kind hearted man who would give you the shirt off his back. He never forgot a birthday or holiday He was strong willed and never wanted to burden anyone. He really loved to work, and watch old Western movies and could tell you all the actors, their spouses, their hobbies. He also loved old Country and Western music, like Hank Williams Sr. Jack did like things a certain way. He had sort of a uniform: he always wore overalls, plaid shirt and a bandana. He was loved by his family and friends and will be truly missed.

Arrangements and services were entrusted to Scott-Morris Funeral home and held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Sunset Cemetery with John Morris, Jr. officiating.
