Jimmie Allon Adams

Jimmie Allon Adams, a cherished husband, devoted father, and proud veteran, passed away on December 1, 2025, in Nocona, Texas, at the age of 92. Born on September 18, 1933, in Baylor County, Texas, Jim was the son of Louis and Emma Adams. Throughout his life, he exemplified strength and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.

On July 3, 1959, Jim married the love of his life, Margie Holcomb. Together they built a beautiful family, raising five children: Dora, Jackie, Penny, Shirley, and Andrew. Jim's commitment to both his family and his country was unwavering. He joined the Army and later served as a mechanic in the National Guard, ultimately retiring after 40 years of dedicated service.

From his youth, Jim pursued his passion for farming, initially in Weatherford, Texas, before relocating to Nocona to fulfill his dream of owning a larger farm. Jim's interests extended beyond his professional life; he was a loving member of his church community and served as a deacon at Bonita Baptist Church. His faith was a guiding light in his life, and he and Margie made sure to instill faith in their children as well.

Jim's care for the next generation was evident in his role as a Boy Scout leader in both Weatherford and Nocona. He took great joy in teaching generations of scouts essential life skills and sharing the joys of camping with them, even overcoming his own fear of water while learning to canoe.

In his retirement, Jim embraced new interests, particularly enjoying black powder mountain man and fur trader rendezvous. He committed part of his land outside Nocona to host the Southwestern Regional Rendezvous, making it a community gathering spot for various events every March.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Emma Adams; his beloved wife, Margie, and two daughters, Dora and Jackie, as well as his sister, Barbara Harkins. Jim is survived by his children: Penny Adams, Shirley Stanford, and Andrew Adams (and wife Cathy); sisters, Virginia Williams and Cecilia Bodine; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Jimmie Allon Adams will be remembered as a strong man with a gentle heart-a loving husband, caring father, and a proud veteran. His legacy is one of love, honor, and unwavering dedication, a testament to the profound impact he had on those around him. The warmth of his kindness and the depth of his courage will forever resonate in the memories held by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on December 10, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Scott-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, located at 212 East Oak Street, Nocona, TX 76255. The funeral service will take place on December 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Saint Jo, located at 402 North Broad Street, Saint Jo, TX 76265. Following the service, Jim will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery in Weatherford, TX at 3:00 PM.
