Hazel Lee (Curnutte) Pendergraft, lifelong resident of Nocona, passed away Sunday, September 3rd at the age of 81. Hazel was born September 10th, 1935 to Richard and Edith Curnutte in Nocona, one of eight children. Hazel met James Pendergraft. They married, had three children, and raised their family in Nocona. Throughout her life, Hazel worked in several local restaurants, including the Downtown Diner and the Ranch House, as well as at Horizon Manor and Nocona Nursing Homes, where she was an aide and housekeeper.
Hazel loved her family, loved life, and loved people. She was always quick to greet people anywhere she happened to be all over the community. Hazel also loved her Savior and enjoyed being a member of Abundant Life Church of Nocona.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; husband James; two sons Richard and Michael Pendergraft; sister Dorothy Roper; brother Joe Curnutte; and grandson Rodney Brewer.
She is survived by her daughter Becky Brewer and fiance Alan Duncan, sisters Linda Huckabee, Lilly Pigg, and Patsy Parks; brothers Curtis and Charles Curnutte, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchilren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Hazel's funeral is Wednesday, September 6, 10:00 AM at First Assembly of God in Nocona, with Pastor Edwin Brooks officiating. Her family will receive visitors Tuesday, September 5, 6:00 PM at Scott-Morris Funeral Home in Nocona.
